Looking for a wedding venue that feels like an experience? Merrill House in Picton blends fine art, design, and Michelin-worthy dining in a truly one-of-a-kind setting — complete with a gold-star tent and custom in-house invitation suites for a bespoke touch.
Nestled in the heart of Picton, Merrill House is unlike anywhere else in Prince Edward County. It’s part art gallery, part luxury hotel, and part culinary experience — all wrapped in a historic mansion filled with European flair. Every corner is intentional, every detail layered. If you’re drawn to venues that feel immersive and art-driven, Merrill is a world of its own.
Merrill House attracts couples who want something elevated and out of the ordinary — people who love art, design, and great food, but prefer warmth and creativity over formality. It’s perfect for:
It’s not the right fit if you’re dreaming of a blank canvas venue — Merrill has a strong personality and aesthetic of its own.
The Merrill tent isn’t your standard white event tent — look up, and you’ll see a ceiling painted with shimmering gold stars. It’s whimsical, romantic, and ideal for candlelit dinners or dancing under the glow of string lights.
Couples also have the option to add custom invitation suites created by Merrill’s in-house artist — a bespoke touch that ties the whole experience together beautifully.
Photographing here is a dream for anyone who loves character and texture. A few favorite spots:
There’s beautiful, dappled light throughout the property in summer, so you can shoot comfortably at almost any time of day. Indoors, use soft fill light to highlight the unique patterns and textures in each suite.
Photographer Tip: If your wedding party has more than three people per side, plan to use the parlour for getting ready — the suites are cozy but not all are spacious.
Booking is simple — reach out to Jordan Martin and expect a response within four days. Food and beverage are fully managed by Merrill’s restaurant team, but outside vendors for photography, florals, and décor are welcome.
Every visit to Merrill feels new. The owner, Jordan, is constantly refreshing spaces and displays, infusing his background in art and fashion into every room. No two shoots ever look the same.
We’ve photographed everything from a wedding menswear collaboration to an art exhibition and a weekend lifestyle session here — and each felt completely different. The atmosphere changes with the light, the season, and even the curation of art on the walls.
One of my favourite moments was photographing Evert’s first art exhibition. As he spoke about his creative process surrounded by friends, the air was filled with pride and emotion — exactly the kind of authenticity this venue inspires.
Pro tip for photographers: The mansion’s interior relies mostly on artificial light. A soft, balanced fill will help preserve the beautiful patterns, textures, and colors that make Merrill so visually rich.
